Mount Asama April 8, 2008

On our way back from Kusatsu we stopped at Mount Asama, the active volcano that smolders on the border between Gunma and Nagano. The last eruption of Mount Asama was in 2004. Here you can see the gate of the temple and the old lava flow at the foot of the volcano and the steam rising from the volcano in the background.

Since it was near closing time, we didn’t get to go further than this, but I hope to go back soon.
